Central Index for Network Clients

Question

I am currently evaluating a solution to provide our file server (Microsoft DFS) with a central index. Mainly it is about images with IPTC/XMP metadata. I need to distribute this data to about 20 clients.

Is there an article in the help that describes the scenario of a central index?
