Hi All! I have used the free version of Agent Ransack for years on Windows, and never had any problems. However, I tried to use it today after not having used it in a month or two, and now i'm getting "invalid location" errors, when I search on a network path. Works fine searching on local drive. It doesn't matter whether the drive is mapped or it's UNC path. I installed latest version of AR to see if that would help, but it's still doing the same thing. It just pops up in a new location in the lower right of the app where it says "errors reported: invalid location"

Any ideas?

If you use Explorer (in the same desktop session) can you look through the network drive ok? Could you post a screenshot?
Yep, i can browse/read/write/execute through all the networks shares just fine via win explorer. Here is the error: http://www.postasylum.com/uploads/client/techsupport/2018-04-04_14-18-56.png

If you can browse the network drives in Explorer but not via Agent Ransack that it would indicate that Agent Ransack is not running as the same user (the network authentication is user specific). Since this is probably not deliberate the simplest option is to perform a full re-install:

Please try this:

  • Uninstall Agent Ransack
  • Delete the folder C:\Program Files\Mythicsoft\Agent Ransack
  • Delete the folder C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Roaming\Mythicsoft
  • Download the latest version from the web site
  • Reinstall
