Hi,

I just bought license of your excellent Filelocator Pro. I have one question - it seems that it silently ignores folders that cannot be accessed because of missing access rights or files. Can I search specifically for those folders or at least see them listed in log files? My usecase is to switch off the compress flag but right now I realized that there are folders that were not searched because I do not have access to them. The same problem applies for files when search file content is used.

Kind regards, Jan

The next version of FileLocator Pro (version 7.5) will have a feature to show files that could not be searched. It should be out in the next few days.

It won't show folders that couldn't be read, I'll add that to the requested features list.

Thanks for quick response and for adding this to feature list. In the meanwhile I used the script to the rescue. To my surprise, scripting does not severely impact search performance.

Kind regards, Jan

var fso = new ActiveXObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")

function isValidFileName(strPath, strFileName) {
  try {
    var isFolder = fso.FolderExists(strPath + strFileName)
    if(!isFolder)
      return false

    var folder = fso.GetFolder(strPath + strFileName)

    // will throw when folder is not accessible
    folder.Files.Count

    return false
  } catch(e) {
    return true
  }
}
