What do I enter in the FileLocator Pro "Containing Text" box to return files that contain two dashes with text before the first dash and between the dashes and after the last dash all on the same line?

Try the following regular expression:

[[:alpha:][:digit:]]*-[[:alpha:][:digit:]]+-[[:alpha:][:digit:]]*

The [[:alpha:][:digit:]] part refers to any letter or number. You could use [a-z0-9] but you can run into collating issues with foreign languages.

Here's a sample text:

123-56FL-44

Sometimes the text might not be complete. the text before the first dash may be missing and/or the text after the last dash may be missing. The text between the dashes may contain numbers, but the letters may not have been assigned.
