Does FileLocator Pro allow searches in Outlook 2010 .ost file?

Yes FileLocator Pro can read OST files. OST files are very similar to PST files and by default FileLocator Pro is setup to read both. You can check this by going to the Configuration->Extensions->PST settings and checking that 'ost' is listed in the File Types list:

PST Settings

More information on PST searching is available here:

This does not seem to work - even though it is listed as shown above, the search doesn't find anything in the .ost file.

That is with outlook 2010 and windows 7 pro 32 bit. Any search just runs fine except without any result. FYI this Outlook runs off an Exchange server (hosted on Intermedia servers )- I pointed the search folder to the local .ost folder. No search would work ie return anything

What gives?

Outlook 2013 introduced a new format for OST files, which has only just been implemented so please check you are using the latest version.

Please check this out to make sure you're searching properly (e.g. ensuring that you've switched on the 'Outlook PST/MSG files' option in the Options tab):

Also, have a look in the error log file to see if anything is being reported there (Configuration->Folders).

Could you please send a sample (failed) search SRF file (File->Save Criteria As...) to support@mythicsoft.com and we can look into it.

Might sound like a silly question but you have switched the 'Outlook PST/MSG files' option in the Options tab on haven't you? Also, I'm assuming you're using the latest version of FileLocator Pro?

Yes. yes - is there any way you can verify for sure that it works for outlook set up with an .ost file, connected to an exchange server? I really tried many times, couldn't believe this .. and i am familiar with computers

Yes, we had to make specific adjustments for it to work with OST files. Have you looked in the error log to see if any problems have been written there?

OK - will check again over the weekend - thanks for now
